This article provides the step-by-step process for a Local Group Administrator (LGA) to impersonate another LGA's account. This allows you to manage requests and users within the Local Groups owned by the other LGA, provided your organisation has enabled this functionality.
Prerequisites
You must meet the following conditions to impersonate another LGA's account:
Audience/Role: You must be a Local Group Administrator (LGA).
Permissions: You must have the same or higher permissions than the LGA you wish to impersonate. Related instructions: See Manage Administrator Roles in the Administrators Group for managing LGA permissions.
Target LGA: The LGA you want to impersonate must own at least one Local Group.
Assigning a Local Group to an LGA (For Super Admins)
If the LGA you need to impersonate does not own a Local Group, a Super Admin must assign them one, as this is a mandatory prerequisite.
The Super Admin is responsible for setting the owner on each Local Group.
Refer to the instructions on Transferring Ownership of a Local Group.
-
If no appropriate Local Group exists for the Administrator to manage, you can create a dummy Local Group.
To do this, create a new Local Group and set it as a "Demo/Test Group".
Allocate the ownership of this group to the LGA that needs to be impersonated.
Steps
Follow these steps to impersonate another Local Group Administrator:
-
Navigate to the Admin Tools menu. This option will be visible if all prerequisites are met.
The menu is typically located either in the top menu bar or on the homepage on the left-side menu.
Click on Impersonate Local Groups Admins.
View the list of Administrators you are able to impersonate.
Click on the name next to the relevant Local Group to start impersonating that Local Group Administrator.
Results / Validation
After completing the steps, your account will be operating under the identity of the impersonated LGA. You can now manage requests and users for the Local Groups they own.
Limits & Notes
The option to Impersonate Local Groups Admins is only available when you are logged in directly to your own account. It will not be visible if you are currently impersonating another LGA.
