Locate a Request Reference Number and Response ID

  • Updated

This article explains how to locate the VP Reference number (for a request you've raised) and the Response ID (for a submitted response) within the Go To Market module, clarifying the difference between them. This information is useful when a supplier or buyer needs to identify a specific request or submission.

Prerequisites

To locate this information, you must have:

  • The Buyer rights to see the VP Reference number of a request you've raised and Response ID of responses you have received.

Steps

  1. Locate your request under My Requests. The VP Reference number will appear to the right of your Request Title.

    • Expected result: If it's a current request, it should be visible on your dashboard.

  2. Click on the green responses icon.

    • Expected result: A list of responses against the request is presented.

  3. Find the Response ID below each response.

    • Expected result: The Response ID, with a VPR prefix, is visible.

Results / Validation

The difference between the two reference types is:

  • VP Reference number: The unique number of the request raised by a buyer, which always has a VP prefix.

  • Response ID: The unique number for a specific response submitted by a supplier, which has a VPR prefix.

Limits & Notes

  • VendorPanel - a Unimarket Company does not label any user-facing metadata as "user or account IDs".

  • The VP Reference number is always attached to the request once posted and is the most visible across the platform.

  • No other reference information is shared between the supplier and the buyer other than standard business information available via the supplier's profile.

Troubleshooting

  • Issue: A supplier is confusing the VP Reference number with the Response ID.

    • Fix: Explain that the VP Reference number is for the request itself (used by buyers), while the Response ID is for the response to the request (used by suppliers).
