The backup area is for exporting and importing wedge files.

Wedge files contain information about forms in the system, and by exporting and importing these files, it is possible to do system backups, or do system deployments (i.e. export wedge from a dev site, import into a prod site).

A wedge file is effectively a zip file that contains XML data that defines how forms are constructed.

Wedges can contain the following information:

• Form data i.e. controls, columns, reference groups, permissions, etc.

• Record data

• Attachments to record data

• Parent-child links between records

• Files attached to the form, i.e. mail merge templates

• Tabular report profiles specific to each form

Exporting a Wedge

To export a wedge, select the forms you want to export using the Add EForm dropdown, and then select the data you want to include in the export file.

You can select any combination of information to be included in the export. If nothing is toggled to 'Yes', then only the form design itself will be exported.

Before exporting the data you can define a file name for the generated file. Once you are comfortable with the export, click the Export Wedge button.

Wedge Definitions

If you want to export the same selection of data, you can export a Wedge Definition. This saves the form selections and the selected data for export. This can be handy if you are planning to export a wedge in advance. You can predetermine what selection of data to export and this will make it easier to export the data you need when it is required.

If you do export a Wedge Definition, you can use it later by simply importing the file into the Import Wedge Definition section.
